R-454B refrigerant
The refrigerant replacing R-410A in new residential AC + heat pump systems from 2025 onward. R-454B has roughly one-fifth the global warming potential of R-410A and similar cooling performance. It is mildly flammable (A2L class) which means new systems use modified components but install the same way.
What this means in Kansas City
If you're replacing an R-410A system in 2025+, the new outdoor unit will be R-454B. The indoor coil and lineset may need to be replaced (not always — depends on age and compatibility). Delta T quotes the full transition cost up front, never as a surprise on the install day.
